The Breath Beneath
The Breath Beneath explores our perception of reality, the underlying structure of the landscape and our connection to the cosmos.
Perpetual change, despite the universal order, gives weight to transience; the constant flow and flux of nature mirrors its duality of character, both violent and nurturing. The waxing and waning of the planet echoes the to and fro of our understanding of the natural order. Our connection to this force illuminates the nature of reality and manifestation.
The underlying murmur of the pulse of the earth points to a constancy of natural cycles and frequencies of energy allowing us to peer into the harmonic way of existence.
Through contemplation and the restorative powers of the landscape as a meditative tool we open a portal to another realm; a journey to enlightenment, transcending us to the elegance of a universe we are unable to comprehend.

En route to get as close as I could to a partially frozen waterfall I noticed the unusual patterns the water was making as it flowed underneath the frozen surface of the water in the stream. Pockets of air were trapped and flowing underneath the ice which looked like scurrying creatures of some kind.
During my residency I was exploring notions of our perception of reality, the nature of light, changing states of matter, the underlying structure of the landscape and our connection to the cosmos. I frequently deconstruct and reconstruct the environment, attempting to shift the view of the observer.
